Rescue + Relief SPRAY by CV Skinlab for Eczema

various bottles of rescue and relief from CV Skinlabs

This is a long review...just warning you. Because this Rescue + Relief spray by CVSkinlabs is just so magical and amazing that I have to tell you everything about it! So grab some coffee and read on.

My kids suffer from moderate to severe Eczema, all year around. I accidentally discovered how foods might play a role in exacerbating their symptoms a few years ago but since then, we discovered, through allergy testing, that there are environmental factors that aggravate their symptoms, BIG time. And sometimes their skin flares up for no reason, it seems. I mean, I'm sure there are r.e.a.s.o.n.s - it's just that, we don't know what they are sometimes.

So it's no surprise, albeit, still annoying, when their dermatologist told me that Eczema is due to genetics - Geeeezz....thanks, Doc. The only thing the kids can do is to avoid the triggers and have to treat it symptomatically. *groan*

Well, their "flare-ups" seem almost daily, especially in the winter & spring, and when they play sports. And, unfortunately, the Northeast is the WORST for Eczema. Milder and not too humid temperate areas, like the Southeast, is the best. Stress does cause flare-ups too but environmental issues play a bigger role, in my kids. Ask a college kid and a High School Junior. They know s.t.r.e.s.s....but it's seasonal allergies that wreak havoc on their skin more than the stress.

I am always on the lookout for some magical lotions, soaps, shampoos, and creams that will either calm their skin when they are inflamed, or prevent flare-ups.

So, when I read that Britta Aragon, the author of When Cancer Hits, a book I just reviewed on Monday (there is still time to enter the giveaway!), created this magical potion for inflamed and irritated skin called Rescue+Relief Spray, I was th.rill.ed! I was going to review her book anyway so I asked her about the spray. She was generous enough to send me a bottle try. Yahoo!!

    Britta Aragon's Story

I 'met' Britta on Twitter. You know how that goes....some people retweet what you tweet and then you want to find out what they are all about. When I saw that she was tweeting and re-tweeting anything to do with skin, health, and cancer, I had to find out what she knew. And as it turns out, she knew a lot about health and beauty, NOT just for cancer patients but for anyone in general.

Britta Aragon, natural beauty expert, author and entrepreneur, discovered her passion for promoting safe self-care through her experience as a caregiver during her father's eight-year battle with cancer. A survivor herself of Hodgkin’s Disease at the age of 16, she sought solutions for the difficult side effects her father suffered on his hair, skin and nails, but was disheartened by the lack of straightforward information or effective products. Even when she tried products specifically touted for “sensitive skin,” they were often laden with potentially harmful chemicals that actually irritated her father’s fragile skin. For the first time, she became acutely aware of how devastating the side effects from drugs and medical treatments could be.

Inspired and determined to help others, she founded Cinco Vidas in 2008, and dedicated her work to her father's legacy. A lifestyle brand of products and services, Cinco Vidas provides expert resources and safe solutions to those experiencing side effects from chemotherapy, radiation or medication, or who experience skin conditions like eczema, sensitivity and chronic dryness. With the goal of fostering prevention and encouraging change, Cinco Vidas also works to increase awareness of potential carcinogens in food, personal care products, and the environment. As a result of years spent working as a makeup artist and skincare expert, Britta lectures on Safe Self-Care for Compromised Skin in the New York area. Her blog, Cinco Vidas, is a popular resource and community support center for those dealing with medical treatment side effects and difficult skin conditions.

After she wrote When Cancer Hits, she launched this magical line of beauty products for sensitive skin, any sensitive skin. And I figured, if it's good for cancer patients, it must be good for anyone, right? Right. It's like the "Baby on Board" sign on cars...driving safely is good for anyone.

Rescue + Relief SPRAY by CV Skinlab for Eczema

What is "Rescue + Relief" and does it work?

This refreshing, milk-like emulsion coats the skin with moisture while calming and soothing flushed sensitive skin. The relief is almost immediate when applied to hot inflamed areas. When my kids' skin get this red and angry, they are too tender and delicate to the touch. The R+R spray brought instant relief from itching and burning skin. I can imagine how it can help soothe skin from sunburns and even from cooking mishaps.

Here are the photos to prove what I mean.

CV Skinlab spraying on boy's neck with red spots
    Day 1
less redness on boy's neck on day 2
    Day 2
    minimal redness on boy's neck
    Day 3

Now, do you believe how magical this spray is? I wondered, "What is in this thing????", since it worked like a miracle in just two days.

Here is what the company states:

    Natural Content:  99.4%
    Organic Ingredients:  84%
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Glycerin, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract (Water Lily), Valeriana Officinalis Rhizome/Root Extract, Ganoderma Lucidum (Mushroom) Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Bisabolol, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Beta-Glucan, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Water (Aqua), Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract (Comfrey), Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Maltodextrin *Organic

    Tri-Rescue Complex contains:
Turmeric: Anticancer effects; anti-inflammatory properties. Used as an antiseptic for cleaning wounds. Antioxidant helps protect from free-radical-related damage and aging. Found in some studies to help radiation wound healing.

Alpha- Bisabolol: Anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties. Antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Accelerates the healing process. Reduces the stresses of the environment on the skin.

Reishi Mushroom: Strong antioxidant, shown to boost immunity. Acts as an antihistamine, reducing the risk of allergic reactions. Retains water—helps keep skin hydrated and smooth. Anti-inflammatory properties—helps calm and soothe skin.

I know what you are thinking. How could all these plant-based natural ingredients work so well on something only steroid cream can calm?

My thoughts are exactly but I am NOT surprised. Mother nature has great resources for everything we need. You just have to know the right combination of ingredients to use on the right condition.

CV Skinlabs products: (I love everything on this list!)

    • Work with the skin, using biocompatible, natural and/or organic ingredients scientifically and medically accepted to help the skin recover its natural balance and comfort level.
    • Are made up of 99.4—100% natural content.
    • Contain anywhere from 15–84% organic ingredients.
    • Use fair trade, certified organic shea butter from the Léo region in Burkina Faso.
    • Do NOT contain any ingredients linked to cancer, hormone disruption, reproduction abnormalities or other health issues.
    • Do NOT have synthetic fragrances—only non-hormone altering plant extracts provide a light scent to each product. Even organic essential oils can irritate skin, while some may have a slight potential to mimic the action of estrogen, so they are excluded.
    • Have a stable preservative system approved by major worldwide natural/organic standards bodies to guarantee appropriate shelf-life without contributing to environmental harm.
    • Include hypoallergenic ingredients not known to cause skin irritation, burning, itching, or allergic reactions.
    • Contain anti-inflammatory, wound-healing and skin-soothing ingredients that encourage repair and healing of the compromised skin.
    • Are NOT tested on animals.

What do I think or Rescue + Relief?

I LOVE Rescue + Relief spray!! Like I said, it is magical. I couldn't believe the red and angry inflamed areas started to disappear within hours. The thin milky spray has a pleasant odor and it has a very refreshing natural scent. Not chemically induced or artificial smell. It dries quickly and it seemed to get absorbed rather quickly, without dripping down to a waste. It left the skin very soft and smooth and my kids said it felt cool almost immediately.

When I took my kids to an acupuncturist, he told me to give them foods that are cooling to reduce internal heat. It only makes sense to apply something that will cool their outside too when their skin is inflamed.

I would like to try CV skinlab's calming moisture for face and the restorative skin balm. Aside from those two products, would like to introduce the Rescue + Relief Spray to my brother, as he also has similar flare ups like your child. My skin is very sensitive to most products, so after reading your review, it gives me the confident to try out CV's products. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I have to comment here because I am really interested in these products and think you did such an amazing job reviewing them! I don't want to win though because I don't need them nearly as much as one of the women going through chemo or radiation.

I would love to try the Body Repair Lotion.

I have Eczema also, so I know what your kids are going through! I have had it since I was just over a year old, but I can tell you that it really does get better with age, so maybe that will give your children some comfort. I am 29, and I rarely get any flare ups now, except when I am in the sun too long and get sweaty. It started to fade when I was a teenager, and then by about 20 it was much better. The most dramatic changes were when I removed all dairy from my diet over 6 years ago due to a lactose intolerance, and then when I started drinking green smoothies a year and a half ago. Drinking lot's of water is also really good, I wish I had known that when I was younger, all I drank was juice and soda!

Some things that used to flare up my eczema, that are some things you may have not thought of are:
-Grass, sitting or playing in direct contact with grass or hay was a definite no for me.
-Pets, any furry animal with direct contact
-Shea butter and cocoa butter, these are in lot's of natural body products, but they really flare up my eczema, also scents of any kind, even natural. Goats milk soaps also used to irritate my skin.
-Most fruits, except apples and bananas. Especially strawberries, oranges, mango's and pineapple. I have though in the last few years been able to actually eat strawberries, oranges and pineapple with no reaction, so there is hope
      -Tomatoes, fresh or cooked

Maybe you are already aware of all these things, but if not, then I had to share.

I have been dealing with Rosacea for 22 years. I searched the web site and found Rescue + Relief Spray or the Calming Moisture for Face, Neck & Scalp would help! Any relief would be wonderful!

The skin balm looks good also. My hands get very dry and peel, and that looks like it would help.

I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't renew my email subscription when you changed email services, but I've fixed that now. 🙂 I think I'm actually more interested in the Restorative Skin Balm because I have terribly dry hands from pottery, but I'm pretty impressed with the results you got from the spray. Cool stuff!

How amazing CV sounds. Can't wait to try it. I am currently going through radiation for breast cancer treatment and my skin is on fire. It's so hard to find good products.

I've tried multiple products for relief from skin irritation caused by taking an oral chemotherapy drug and would appreciate the opportunity to try this product to see if it helps. If it does I would certainly share the news with fellow patients who have also tried many products, including prescription ones, without success. It's very difficult to function normally when your skin, especially facial skin, is red and inflamed. Thanks for your consideration!
