    Intro

I am a woman of "certain age" and nothing dictates how balanced my skin is. My age does. Damn nature!

So this winter, I started to pay a little more attention to my skin...and because my mom keeps bugging me about taking care of my skin - "You'll never get your youth back!", so she exclaims. Gee....thanks mom.

But once again, she's right. My skin doesn't feel the same since I turned that 'certain' age.

So I decided to pamper my face once a week with this easy avocado face mask.

    Ingredients

I only used three easy ingredients in my face mask. You probably already have the avocado, egg whites, and lemon juice in your refrigerator.

All three of these things are so good for your skin - and not just when you eat them. Here's a bit more information about them and why you should use them topically.

    Avocado Skin Benefits

Avocado is a fruit (Mind blown, I know!!) rich in monosaturated fats, oleic acids, and phytosterols that are anti-inflammatory. If it's good enough for my heart and arteries, it's good enough for my skin, I say. And, once in awhile, I'll use the Kiwi Mask to "brighten" up the skin and give it a little Vitamin C injection too.

Since I can never buy local avocados anyway, I don't feel too guilty about buying them when they are on sale. Again, I make the mask with a "less than fresh" ones - I rather eat the fresh ones 🙂 - but it still feels great on my face.

    Egg Whites And Skin

Egg whites are one of the best things you can put on your skin. They are like nature's face wash! They remove grease on your skin gently and help prevent pimples and acne. The enzyme lysozyme kills the acne-causing bacteria. It's fantastic!

Plus, they form a protective layer on your face that helps you avoid sunburns and blisters (but still wear your sunscreen, folks!).

    Lemon Juice Skin Benefits

Lemon juice is also really high in vitamin C. This antioxidant can help reduce skin damage and premature aging (yes, please!). It also has a high pH. That means it decreases oil on the skin and reduces inflammation.

Lemon and avocado have a lot of the same properties, so I like to use them together.

    Instructions

This is such an easy thing to make! All you do is mix the ingredients together. You can use an electric mixer if you want it to be smooth, but the clumps won't hurt a thing if you leave them in.

Then, just layer it on your face. I like to use a thin layer. Let it sit on your face and dry for about 30 minutes.

Rinse if off when it is dry.

If you feel like your skin is itchy or dry, use a natural moisturizer. On some skin types, when you strip the grease off your skin it also removes the natural oils from your skin too.

    FAQ

How do you store leftover avocado?

Making this mask with one whole avocado is wayyyy too much to use in one application. So, after I use what I need, I freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. Yes, it turns yucky brown but the nutritious elements are still intact. Just defrost it when you need it to room temperature before using it.
