    These 50 protein rich salad recipes will make your mouth water and drool. You just might wish you were having them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.     One of my friends doesn't believe lettuce has any nutritional value. He thinks it's just water camouflaged in dressing and it serves no purpose. He's partially right.

    On the other hand, I have friends who believe a plant-based diet is healthier and just as nutritious as meat. Which is right?

    Neither.

    We are omnivores and we need both meats and plants to reach optimal health. Some might say, "But but...meat causes cancer!" And to that, I say, it depends. If eaten alone, yes, certain meats can cause cancer but when eaten with vegetables, the risk is much lower. Take that one step further, I believe the earth will be healthier if we raised sustainable meats and grow sustainable plants. It's not about whether eating meat causes more problems for the planet but 'how' we raise the animals for the meat that makes a difference. If we eat a balanced meal based on our biological needs, seasonally, both the humans and the planet will be in better shape.     Regardless of the variables that require different types of foods, one commonality is that we need to eat proteins and vegetables for better health. In my opinion, we should be Paleo style eaters in having 70% vegetables and 30% meats - Paletarians! And what's better than to have both in one bowl or plate in protein-rich salads?
