Best Paleo BBQ Rub and Sauce

Ingredients

BBQ Dry Rub

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 cup celtic sea salt
  • 2 tsp ground mustard
  • 2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp ground coriander seed
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/3 cup Swerve or dry sweetener of your choice optional

BBQ Sauce

  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp black strap molasses
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke optional

Instructions

BBQ Dry Rub

  • Combine the spices and store in an airtight container in a room temperature. It should last several months. Disregard after several months as it will lose flavor.  

BBQ Sauce

  • Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan on medium-low heat. Adjust the amounts of honey and vinegar to balance the flavor according to your taste. Bring to a soft boil until it bubbles. Lower the heat and simmer until the sauce thickens to a glaze, about 15 minutes. Pour the sauce in an air-tight container and cool to room temperature. Store for several months in the refrigerator.
