Happy New Year!
Hope you had a joyous holiday and a peaceful new year so far. I took a few weeks off at the end of 2013 to get recharged and I am back and ready to rock this year.
And I want you to join me in taking on this new and exciting 4-Week “Healthy 2014 Challenge”. Don’t worry; I won’t make you go join a gym or drink green juice at every meal. It’s more informative and flexible than a strict diet or a boot camp type of a challenge. I know I hate anything regimented like that and I don’t want to set myself up for a failure. I know you are the same way so you are going to love what I’m about to share with you.
Why a Health Challenge?
If you are like the majority of people, you want to be healthy but don’t exactly know how. There are so many confusing facts out there and Googling doesn’t help. In fact, it can be exhausting and you don’t know what to believe or which source to trust. Your doctors don’t tell you everything you need to know and if you are lucky, they will tell you to “eat less and exercise more.”
Yeah, tell me something I don’t know.
But I’m guessing, you are wondering why you should listen to ME, a green blogger who crafts with reclaimed materials and writes about non-toxic housekeeping tips.
Well, I know a thing or two about health since I’m a Chiropractor by training. Integrative health or alternative health has been my way of preventing dis-ease all my life.
And the fact is, everything I’ve been writing about on this blog actually relate to living a healthier life if you think about it. If you keep a non-toxic home, you are half way there in keeping your family healthy. If you eat whole foods with real ingredients and avoid processed foods, you are better off than most people since food is the best MEDICINE. And we all know the effects of regular exercise even though I haven’t talked about it much. But I will from now on.
So, why am I starting to think about health and starting this challenge all of a sudden?
You see, I lost a dear childhood friend to cancer towards end of last year. It was devastating to lose a friend so young and it had a profound affect on me. I realized even more how short life is and how we must take care of ourselves before we start thinking about the planet. Why? Because if WE are healthy, that means we are keeping the planet healthy. What makes US sick also makes the planet sick. It goes hand in hand. It’s like when a flight attendants say during take off, “Put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping others”. This statement can’t be further from the truth when it comes to our health and the planet’s health. And I want to help US to stay healthy or get healthier.
Healthy 2014 Challenge
So starting this week, I will be bringing you posts on ways to be healthier and I want you to participate in the challenge with me. Every week, I will discuss following topics:

Week of January 20th – Detox your body and home – What is toxic-free living?
Week of Janury 27th – Attract Prosperity – Yes, “Health is Wealth” but sadly, financial health is a big part of staying healthy. You need to get rid of a toxic relationship with money and attract prosperity. Money can’t buy health but it can help you get the right care if you need. Introduction to a few home based sustainable businesses that are good for your health and your wallet that might help you get started.
